ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY 2 (small rink) - Travedona Monate

Great fun and tons of luck ...
On Sunday, January 22, the second day of the small rink Italian League was played on our home rink in Travedona Monate.

The JRC was finally in full force with three lines against Sesto San Giovanni and UHC Varese.

Two good games that confirmed the positive signs that began appearing during the first day of the championship. These games also provided us with four precious points needed to increase our team's ranking overall.

The coach played the following triplets: De Bortoli-Gonzalez-Minervo, Piffero-Macchi-Vittek and Vilannen M.- Farcal-Lelijour.

With Bora in the net for the first game against Sesto S.G.: the team played well and immediately played decisively putting them way ahead in the first period.

With 6 to 1 and 3 to 1 for each period respectively, the JRC won a clear and well deserved match for which they had to fight until the end.

The team played the same song against Varese playing accurately and scoring 3 to 1 in the first period.

Unfortunately, in the second period, they did not play with as much determination and a few avoidable distractions combined with some bad luck led the final score.

In the second period, Varese immediately closed the gap (2 to 3) scoring with a "dirty" ball that slips past the defense and between the legs of the incredible Paolo (who had a great game); the power play unfortunately did not provide any goals for the trio of Minervino-De Bortoli-Macchi in part thanks to the excellent goal keeping by the Varese goalkeeper (the excellent Valentina!). The game takes an even worse turn when Andrea is forced to stop playing due to a sprained ankle. The team is a little 'shaken' but tries to reorganize the lines in the fight against Varese. The line changes didn't help too much and Varese scores another two goals pushing the score to 4 to 3 against JRC.

The team does not give up and the tying goal comes just a few minutes before the end of the match by the stubborn and determined captain-coach Raymond.

This intense and hard-fought game was definitely nice to see and even the spectators supported the team loudly.

Congratulations to the team that played well and showed many signs of improvement. A big thanks to the "no longer young" Mikko who really made a valuable contribution to the team and is always a great example to all the young people. Grit and determination are what you would expect for the future, even from them.

There is not much time left before the third championship matches will will be played in Milan on February 19 against the Milanese teams.

We expect to see many of you there to support the team!
